RMS Switcher: one menu-bar icon instead of a pile of macOS utilities

Why I built it

For years the author used excellent apps: Maccy, Shottr, Raycast, Thaw, MOS, Punto Switcher, caffeinate and others. Some had all the features needed, some too few, some were overkill. Each one was fairly large, took memory and added yet another icon to the menu bar — and with the notch on a MacBook that became a real problem.

RMS Switcher is the answer: a Swiss-army knife for macOS with a single icon and solid functionality. It does not try to break existing habits, only to extend them — for example by adding editing to screenshots and to text in the clipboard history.

What it does

• Smart layout switcher — recognizes text typed on the wrong layout from letter patterns, fixes it at the end of a word and can be undone with one shortcut; skips passwords, URLs, e-mail addresses, code identifiers and names
• Command bar — launcher, process killer, calculator and AI in one Spotlight/Raycast-style bar
• Clipboard manager — searchable history, pinned items, snippets, plain-text paste and editing of text entries
• Screenshots with an editor and OCR — including scrolling capture and irreversible redaction
• File Tray — a temporary shelf that stores references to files, not copies
• Optional AI helpers — polish and translate selected text with your own key or a local model

Native, light and private

Written in Swift for Apple Silicon with no third-party packages and no embedded browser. Settings, clipboard history and the file-tray list stay on your Mac; the app talks only to the RMS license server and the update server, plus an AI provider of your choice when you use an AI feature.
