Installation tracker: once a day (and after an update) the app tells the license server that this install is alive. It sends an anonymous device hash, the app version and the update channel; for activated copies it also sends a hash of the key and a proof of knowing it, never the key itself. Nothing about your text, files or clipboard is sent, and a failed ping never affects the app.
