RMS Memory
Visual editor, knowledge graph, Git sync, and AI organizer — layered on top of the same vault your agents use.
GitHubRMS Memory MCP works without the GUI. The vault is plain Markdown. The index is local. The MCP server is fully standalone.
The GUI adds a desktop control plane on top of the same data layer. When you want to see what's in the vault, edit a document without touching a text editor, visualize how architectural decisions connect to code entities, or let an AI organizer clean up outdated notes — that's what the GUI is for. Same vault, same index, different surface.
The vault lives on your machine. The index lives on your machine. A web interface would require either running a local server you didn't ask for or sending your vault contents to a cloud service. A Tauri desktop app reads the same ~/.rms-memory/ directory the MCP server writes to — no server, no sync service, no round-trip.
The MCP server does not require the GUI to initialize projects, index content, search, write memory, or serve MCP clients. The vault is plain Markdown — readable, editable, and portable without the GUI. If you cancel the GUI license, your vault and all its contents remain exactly where they were.
Dashboard and Doctor — project health at a glance: document count, store status, index health score. Doctor groups findings by severity, shows a preview of affected files, and offers one-click repair for missing IDs and frontmatter issues. Doctor & Setup screen combines init, MCP client installation, indexing, sync, GC, and Wiki generation in one place.
Visual and raw editor — Milkdown visual editor and Monaco raw editor in the same window, switchable without losing state. Create, rename, and delete files and folders from a file tree. Dirty-state protection prevents navigation away from unsaved changes. Selection-aware bubble toolbar in visual mode. Independently scrollable visual canvas.
Full WebGL knowledge graph — the graph renders Markdown document links, code entities (functions, structs, interfaces, modules), semantic relationships derived from Tree-sitter indexing, and ephemeral embedding-similarity edges in a single WebGL view. Force-layout computed in a Web Worker. Independent filters for node types and relationship kinds. Deep zoom with taxonomy labels. No node cap, no sampling. Bloom effect disabled above ~1500 nodes for performance. Coordinates persist from the durable graph topology — filters and search do not move the layout.
Code structure projection — every code reindex derives a deterministic project → folder → file → symbolhierarchy using contains edges. The graph shows your codebase as a navigable structure, not a flat file list.
Git and Vault sync — per-project Git status, diff, and history. Global Vault GitHub sync with safe commit → pull → push flow. Built-in GitHub OAuth Device Flow — no gh CLI required. Dual status-bar Git domains so project and vault sync state are always visible.
Doctor & Setup — init, MCP client installation, indexing, sync, GC, Doctor, and Wiki generation from one screen. One-click repair for the most common vault health issues.
AI organizer and Wiki — bring your own key across 12 AI providers. API credentials stored in the operating-system keyring, never in MCP configuration or any repository. Inventory-driven organizer proposes reorganization of outdated or duplicate notes. Proposal-only workflow: every change is shown with sources and a before/after diff. You review, approve, or reject before anything touches the vault. Wiki pages are written to <vault>/wiki/ and excluded from MCP search — generated content stays separate from canonical memory.
Spend tracking — local token and cost ledger across your AI coding tools. Period filters, tray click-menu with totals, Antigravity collector, per-tool tariffs. Optional cloud sync. Spend is vendored as a library shared with other RMS tools.
Backup and export — backup history with restore, llms.txt export, Graphviz DOT export for the graph. Live log viewer for the MCP server. Light, dark, and system themes. Interface in 7 languages: English, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Georgian.
macOS (Apple Silicon) · Windows x64 · Linux x64
Available as .dmg, .msi, .exe (NSIS), .AppImage, .deb, .rpm.
SHA256 checksums published with every release. Verify before installing.
Note: macOS builds are currently unsigned pending Apple Developer account. On first launch Gatekeeper may warn that the app is from an unidentified developer — use Open Anyway as documented in the release notes.
AI organizer and Wiki generation · Spend cloud sync · Vault GitHub sync
Everything else — visual editor, knowledge graph, Git source control, Doctor, backup, export, log viewer — is available during the trial and does not require a paid license after the trial if those three features are not used. The MCP server itself never requires a GUI license.
