GeoTax is a cloud SaaS platform for automating tax accounting and financial management for individual entrepreneurs and small businesses in Georgia. The system combines income and expense management, invoicing, tax report preparation, analytics, and client interaction tools in a single web application.

The platform is developed by RMS Digital Services and built using a modern server architecture based on Go, Next.js, and PostgreSQL. Special attention during design was paid to security, reliability, and compliance with the requirements of Georgian tax legislation.

Key features

Automation of tax accounting

GeoTax helps entrepreneurs manage financial accounting without using spreadsheets or third-party services.

The system allows you to:

• track income and expenses;
• manage a client database;
• issue professional PDF invoices;
• monitor tax limits;
• calculate a forecast of the tax burden;
• prepare data for submitting declarations to the Revenue Service (RS.ge).

Automatic control of Small Business regime limits (500,000 GEL) and mandatory VAT registration is supported.

Financial accounting and analytics

GeoTax provides a unified interface for daily financial management.

For transactions in foreign currency, official exchange rates from the National Bank of Georgia are used, ensuring correct calculation of the tax base in accordance with legal requirements.

Architecture

GeoTax is built on Clean Architecture principles with a separation of the domain model, business logic, infrastructure, and user interface.

The architecture includes:

• a web interface on Next.js;
• a high-performance REST API on Go;
• PostgreSQL as the main database;
• Redis for caching and queue processing;
• background services for document generation, backup, and notification sending.

Asynchronous tasks are executed via Redis and Asynq, allowing resource-intensive operations to be performed without affecting user interface responsiveness.

Security

GeoTax was designed as a financial system handling personal and payment data.

The following are used to protect information:

• two-factor authentication;
• JWT authentication;
• AES-256-GCM for encrypting personal data;
• centralized secret management via HashiCorp Vault;
• Row Level Security (FORCE RLS) in PostgreSQL;
• cryptographically protected audit log;
• secure encryption key rotation;
• data isolation between organizations at the database level.

Confidential data is never stored in plain text, and search on sensitive fields is performed using a Blind Index without needing to decrypt them.

Performance and fault tolerance

The system is designed for continuous operation and automatic execution of background processes.
