Roundcube, SnappyMail, and most other self-hosted clients were built around IMAP as the main protocol. That worked in 2005. With dozens of folders, large attachments, and serious volumes, IMAP search freezes, the interface lags, and synchronization loses state.
RMS Mail works differently: IMAP is only a transport for synchronization, while search, indexing, and email operations are performed directly through an internal database. The result: search in tens of milliseconds, bulk operations without freezing, smooth work with any volume.
Instant search — full-text FTS5 (Mono) and PostgreSQL tsvector (Unified) without external indexers. Results appear as you type.
Unlimited bulk operations — select all emails in a folder and delete, move, mark as read. Works on any volume, not just visible rows.
Browser-first architecture — interface runs in the browser, data is stored on the server. No local caches of tens of gigabytes, no synchronization issues between devices.
Telegram and MCP — email in a Telegram bot and as a tool in an IDE (Cursor, Zed, Claude Desktop). Search, summaries, email actions — from any environment.
